At least nine people, including a child, were killed in the South due to severe rainstorms, leaving hundreds of thousands without power and causing flash flooding. In Tennessee, a flash flood emergency was issued after a levee failure in Rives led to rapid flooding, with about 200 people needing rescue. Kentucky was hit hard, with eight deaths reported, and Gov. Andy Beshear warned of ongoing dangerous weather conditions and significant riverbank flooding, as well as a snowstorm expected to bring several inches of snow.
