Corazon Mining has initiated its first diamond drilling program at the Two Pools gold project, achieving 995 meters of drilling, surpassing the initial target of 920 meters. Early visual assessments of the core samples indicate that the mineralized system continues at depth, providing essential validation for the company’s geological model. This deeper drilling marks a significant advancement, as previous explorations were limited to shallow methods averaging only 75 meters. Corazon strategically targeted historical zones known for high-grade gold intercepts, including notable previous hits of 12 meters at 8.9 grams per tonne and 8 meters at 7.8 grams per tonne. As part of the campaign, a 400-meter-deep hole was drilled to explore a potential extension of the mineralized structure. To expedite results, core samples have been sent for assaying concurrently with drilling, with initial findings expected in the coming weeks, which could influence future drilling strategies.

Why It Matters

Corazon Mining’s Two Pools project is located within the Plutonic-Marymia greenstone belt, a region recognized for significant gold deposits. The historical context of the area includes past discoveries that have established its potential for high-grade gold resources. By successfully transitioning to deeper drilling techniques, Corazon aims to expand its understanding of the mineralization at Two Pools, which could lead to substantial findings. The current drilling program and its results could significantly impact the company’s future exploration activities and strategies, reflecting broader trends in gold exploration and mining in Western Australia.
