Would-be assassin from Wisconsin convicted in U.K. over failed murder plot

Aimee Betro, a 45-year-old Wisconsin woman, was found guilty of conspiracy to murder and possession of a firearm in a failed 2019 plot to kill a man in Birmingham, UK, after being recruited by Mohammed Aslam and his son, Mohammed Nazir. Betro, who spent five years on the run before her arrest in Armenia, attempted the murder but was unsuccessful; she is scheduled for sentencing on August 21.
