As WEF gets underway, the list of world leaders not attending Davos speaks volumes

The annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland is set to convene close to 3,000 leaders from over 130 countries to discuss pressing challenges and opportunities in an uncertain era. While Donald Trump is expected to address the forum via live video link, key leaders such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and French President Emmanuel Macron will be absent. The theme of this year’s event is “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” with a focus on reimagining growth, industries, investing in people, safeguarding the planet, and rebuilding trust. The lack of participation from some world leaders may be due to domestic issues or ambivalence towards the event’s perceived elitism. The forum aims to provide a platform for stakeholders from various sectors to come together for positive change.
