Texas Power Demand Increases, Solar, Wind, and Storage Provide Support

Texas’s electricity demand reached record highs in 2025, driven by a 5% year-over-year increase to 372 TWh, largely met by renewable energy sources. Solar output has quadrupled since 2021, producing 45 TWh in 2025, while wind generated 87 TWh, with both supplying 36% of ERCOT’s electricity, reducing natural gas’s share in the mix from 47% to 43%.
