The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has disclosed that it has been providing the Lebanese army with anti-explosive drone barbed wire, in response to the escalating drone threat posed by Hezbollah. So far, the IDF has supplied approximately 158,000 square meters of this specialized wire, an amount equivalent to about 20 football fields. The military is also planning to procure an additional 188,000 square meters of the wire to bolster defenses against drone incursions. This development comes ahead of a three-week ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which was recently announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Why It Matters

The supply of anti-explosive drone barbed wire to the Lebanese army illustrates the increasing military cooperation between Israel and Lebanon amid rising tensions with Hezbollah. The use of drones in conflict has become a significant concern for nations in the region, particularly as Hezbollah continues to enhance its drone capabilities. The ongoing ceasefire highlights the fragile nature of peace in the area, as both nations navigate complex geopolitical challenges involving their military strategies and foreign diplomatic pressures.
