Iran leader connected to £35 million London properties

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly appointed Iranian supreme leader, reportedly purchased two luxury apartments in London near the Israeli embassy for £35 million, facilitated by Iranian banker Ali Ansari, who has ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The acquisitions, made in 2014 and 2016, have drawn scrutiny, especially after Ansari was sanctioned by the British government in October 2025 for allegedly financing the IRGC. Experts suggest this succession marks a significant shift in Iran’s governance towards a dictatorship.
