A series of drone attacks occurred in Iraq’s Kurdistan region on Friday, targeting the Erbil Arjaan by Rotana hotel, a US military base near Erbil’s airport, and the headquarters of an Iranian Kurdish opposition group. Additionally, a drone strike in Basra set fire to offices of US firms Halliburton and KBR. The US embassy warned that Iran-aligned militias may target hotels frequented by foreigners, urging US citizens to leave the region. Tensions are rising as Kurdish leaders express concerns about being drawn into the broader conflict involving Iranian forces.
