On January 27, following a 15-day extension of a ceasefire between the Syrian Transitional Government (STG) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the US, UK, France, and Germany urged all parties to adhere to the ceasefire and protect civilians. The SDF, a Kurdish group supported by the US in the fight against ISIS, has faced uncertainty since the fall of the Assad regime in 2024. The four countries emphasized maintaining efforts against ISIS and supporting a peaceful political transition in Syria. Additionally, talks between the Syrian government and Kurdish forces are anticipated to implement a mediated agreement.
