Tehran is reportedly using non-Iranian fighters from Afghanistan and Pakistan to suppress demonstrations, as they are perceived as more willing to use lethal force against civilians, according to Roni Insaz, a former IRGC member. Insaz claims these foreign recruits are deployed during significant unrest and are instructed to shoot indiscriminately. He describes dire conditions in Iran, including disrupted communication systems and extensive blackouts. Many Iranians feel betrayed by the U.S., particularly by President Trump, whom they believed would support their cause but instead left them feeling abandoned.
