Syrian security forces conducted a raid on Islamic State hideouts in Aleppo, resulting in the death of at least one terrorist and the arrest of others, marking the first such operation under the new Islamist leadership. During the raid, a security force member was also killed, and weapons, bombs, and uniforms were confiscated. The operation targeted sleeper cells in four locations, with one terrorist detonating explosives and another killed in the ensuing clashes, as interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, an adversary of ISIS, recently met with US President Donald Trump, who praised him and announced a lifting of sanctions.
