Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU), based in Tripoli, declared a state of emergency following the assassination of SSA Commander Abdel Ghani al-Kikli, which led to clashes between the 444th Brigade, alleged to be responsible for his death, and the Stability Support Apparatus (SSA). Al-Kikli was a key ally of GNU Prime Minister Abdel Hamid al-Dbeibah, and the interior ministry urged citizens to stay home for safety as heavy gunfire was reported in Tripoli. The UN Mission in Libya called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, emphasizing the need to protect civilians amidst ongoing instability in the country.
