Fr Paul Murphy, an army chaplain, forgave a teenage boy who stabbed him seven times with a hunting knife, expressing forgiveness and offering hope for the boy’s rehabilitation. The boy, motivated by ISIS propaganda, attacked Murphy in protest of the Irish Defence Forces involvement in Mali. Despite the heinous crime, Murphy emphasized the importance of the boy learning from his actions and returning to society positively, concluding with a compassionate gesture of shaking hands and hugging the boy during the sentencing hearing.
