Third-party app store AltStore PAL announced the availability of a porn app called Hot Tub for iOS users in the European Union, claiming it as the “first Apple-approved porn app.” Apple expressed deep concern over the app, citing safety risks for EU users and stating that they do not approve or endorse it. AltStore creator Riley Testut denied making false statements, explaining that Hot Tub went through Apple’s notarization process for distribution with alternative app marketplaces. Apple criticized the EU’s Digital Markets Act, which requires them to allow third-party app stores, like AltStore, to operate in Europe.
