Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reportedly reached an agreement with Liberal leader Sussan Ley to pass revised hate speech laws in Parliament following negotiations. The new legislation, aimed at combating anti-Semitism and radical Islamic extremism in response to the Bondi terror attack, separates gun control measures from hate speech reforms. While the Liberal party has expressed some concerns, the bills are expected to pass in the House of Representatives and face intense debate in the Senate. Albanese emphasized the importance of swift action, indicating that failure to pass the laws might result in their abandonment.
