The Coalition Avenir Québec government has struggled to fulfill its promise of providing every Quebecer with a family doctor since taking power in 2018. Despite this, at least 1.5 million residents still lack access to a primary care provider. Health Minister Christian Dubé recently announced a new goal to have every Quebecer registered with a referring physician or followed by a group of health professionals by the spring of 2026.
