Marvin Margolis, a premed student and WWII veteran, became a suspect in the 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short, known as the Black Dahlia, after initially lying about their relationship. Decades later, Alex Baber, a self-taught codebreaker, claims to have solved both the Zodiac killings and the Black Dahlia case by deciphering the Zodiac’s Z13 cipher, identifying Margolis as the killer. Baber utilized AI to analyze millions of names, ultimately revealing “Marvin Merrill” hidden in the code.
