At the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Trump announced a framework for a potential deal with NATO to acquire Greenland, backing off from military threats. Despite U.S. interests in Greenland’s rare earth minerals, Denmark and Greenland have rejected the acquisition idea, emphasizing existing cooperative agreements for national defense. Experts suggest that Greenland should independently develop its resources through competitive markets, benefiting its citizens. Strengthening NATO partnerships is seen as more beneficial than pursuing ownership of the island.
