Amazon has launched Kiro, a new AI-integrated development environment that emphasizes a spec-driven approach to software development, designed to improve upon the chaotic nature of vibe coding. The promotional video for Kiro features a unique stop-motion animation using action figures, highlighting the software’s aim to tackle coding challenges. Since its preview release in July, Kiro has attracted over 250,000 developers and processed vast amounts of requests, with early adopters praising its efficiency. Now available to a broader audience, Kiro includes features like property-based testing and a checkpointing system for better code management.
