Alpego eyes electric power harrow

Alpego, an Italian manufacturer distributed by OriginAg in New Zealand, showcased its three meter Alysium electric power harrow at the Eima Event in Italy, winning an innovation award. The machine features five electric motors powering the rotors, eliminating the need for a PTO shaft and gearbox. Testing with a hybrid tractor has shown up to 35% less fuel consumption and the potential for real-time adaptation to varying soil conditions through electrically controlled rotor speeds. The concept is still in the early stages of development, focusing on the possibilities of electrical propulsion and addressing challenges such as safety before potential production.
