The Alberta government has initiated a review following the death of 44-year-old Prashanth Sreekumar, who died after allegedly waiting nearly eight hours for treatment in the emergency department at Grey Nuns Community Hospital. Minister Matt Jones has directed Acute Care Alberta and Covenant Health to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death, which occurred after he presented with chest pain and subsequently suffered cardiac arrest. A family friend, Varinder Bhuller, expressed frustration and sadness, stating the situation was “completely avoidable.” Sreekumar was the family’s sole provider, leaving behind his wife and three young children, prompting a fundraiser to support them.
