97 Percent of People Cannot Identify AI Music
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Streaming service Deezer, in collaboration with Ipsos, found that 97% of participants could not distinguish between AI-generated and human-made music in a recent experiment. Although the initial findings seemed alarming, a smaller follow-up study revealed that people correctly identified AI tracks 43% of the time. Concerns about AI’s impact on music quality and creativity were noted, with 80% of respondents wanting AI content clearly labeled. Deezer has implemented a system to detect and label AI-generated music, whereas Spotify is exploring a more nuanced approach to transparency.
