Creators of AI child sex abuse images face up to five years in prison under crackdown

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has announced that the UK will criminalize the creation of AI-generated images of child sexual abuse, with offenders facing up to five years in prison. The new law will make it illegal to possess AI tools intended for producing such images, punishable by up to three years in jail. The government aims to tackle the use of AI by abusers to manipulate and exploit children online, with measures being introduced in the Crime and Policing Bill.
