AG Merrick Garland intends to release special counsel report on Trump’s Jan. 6 case, DOJ says

Special counsel Jack Smith has completed his final report on two investigations resulting in felony charges against President-elect Donald Trump, which Attorney General Merrick Garland intends to make public pending a federal appeals court ruling on an injunction by a Trump-appointed judge. The report focuses on Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and will be shared with Congress, while volume two will only be available for review by select congressional leaders. The Justice Department is seeking to overturn the injunction to allow for the release of the report and potentially give Trump the opportunity to seek Supreme Court intervention.
