The Africa CDC and WHO have declared the current mpox outbreak as a public health emergency, alongside a Marburg Virus Disease outbreak in Rwanda, highlighting the strain on Africa’s health systems. The New Public Health Order for Africa aims to empower African countries to strengthen health systems, prioritize vaccine manufacturing, and address the healthcare workforce crisis to better respond to future health crises and elevate Africa’s role in global health. Led by Africa CDC, the NPHO roadmap focuses on collaboration, self-reliance, and accountability to create a resilient healthcare system and ensure Africa’s voice is heard in global health decisions.
