Africa Moves Towards Self-Sufficiency in Vaccine and Health Product Manufacturing

Africa is striving for self-sufficiency in vaccine and health product manufacturing, with the 2nd Vaccine & Health Products Manufacturing Forum in Cairo focusing on scaling up production, improving regulatory frameworks, and forging partnerships. The Partnership for African Vaccine Manufacturing aims to boost local production capabilities to ensure equitable access to medical products. Africa CDC has set a goal for the continent to manufacture 60% of its vaccines by 2040, with support from the African Union, WHO, and private sector partners to achieve sustainable local production and reduce reliance on global suppliers.
