Africa: IRC Emergency Watchlist 2025: “A World out of Balance”, Sudan, occupied Palestinian territory and Myanmar top of Humanitarian Crisis Ranking- Urgent Action Possible and Needed

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) releases its annual Emergency Watchlist, identifying the top 20 countries at risk of humanitarian crises in 2025, with Sudan, occupied Palestinian territory, Myanmar, Syria, and South Sudan topping the list. These countries account for 82% of those in global humanitarian need, highlighting imbalances such as increased conflict, climate crisis impact, and economic inequality. The IRC calls for reform in humanitarian aid, debt relief, civilian protection, climate resilience, and refugee assistance to address these pressing issues and prevent further suffering.
