Africa: AU-Ibar Hosts High-Level Workshop to Transform Pastoral Livestock Markets Across Africa

The African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is hosting a workshop in Naivasha to drive market-led transformations in Africa’s pastoral economy. The APMD Platform aims to integrate pastoralists into lucrative livestock markets, address challenges facing pastoral communities, and contribute to key African Union strategies. Kenya and Nigeria are identified as “Lighthouse Countries,” with plans to scale up success to additional Strategic Outreach Countries, fostering collaboration and ensuring food security across the continent.
