A civil servant, Josie Stewart, won her case for unfair dismissal against the UK government after being fired for whistleblowing about the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. Stewart, a former senior official at the FCDO, lost her job for revealing failings in the Kabul evacuation and leaking emails suggesting Boris Johnson prioritised evacuating staff from an animal charity over more deserving cases. In a legal first, a tribunal ruled that it can be lawful for civil servants to share unauthorized information with the media under whistleblower protection legislation.
