Goodyear (AZ) Millennium five-star combo guard Adan Diggs has reclassified from the 2028 to the 2027 high school basketball recruiting class, enhancing an already talented group. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 180 pounds, Diggs is now ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the top combo guard, and the leading player from Arizona, according to 247Sports. During his standout sophomore season, he led his team to a 24-4 record, averaging 22.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals per game, earning him MaxPreps National Sophomore Player of the Year honors. Currently, while playing for Vegas Elite in the Nike 17u EYBL Circuit, he maintains an average of 19.6 points, six rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Diggs joins other elite recruits who have also reclassified, including AJ Dybantsa and Cooper Flagg, and has garnered attention from over 20 college programs, including Arizona, UCLA, and Kentucky.

Why It Matters

Adan Diggs’ reclassification to the 2027 class marks a significant shift in the landscape of high school basketball recruitment, reflecting a trend where elite talents are moving up a year early. Historically, top prospects have opted to reclassify for various reasons, including the pursuit of greater competition and earlier exposure to college programs. This decision not only enhances the depth of the 2027 recruiting class but also intensifies the competition among collegiate programs vying for top talent. The influx of talent into the 2027 class underscores the increasing pressure on young athletes to excel at higher levels earlier in their careers.
