A former Auckland prison guard, Moeaia Tuai, faces charges of forcing two immigrant siblings into slavery and claims that his accusers and other witnesses are lying. During his testimony, he disputed the accuracy of his diaries, which referenced beating one complainant, while admitting to securing her an illegal laundromat job and driving her to work daily for nearly two months. Tuai insisted the arrangement was her choice and claimed he bore no responsibility for the illegal employment.
