Space Systems Command has reassigned the launch of GPS III SV-08 satellite from ULA’s Vulcan rocket to SpaceX’s Falcon 9, marking the second time in six months that SpaceX will deploy a US military satellite. This satellite will join the Space Force’s navigation fleet, providing positioning and timing signals for military and civilian users worldwide. The Vulcan rocket, originally booked for the launch in 2023, is now set to launch its first national security mission later this year after the Space Force’s recent certification of ULA’s new launcher.
