President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20 will be held indoors at the US Capitol’s rotunda due to dangerously cold weather forecasted in Washington. The inaugural parade and all three inaugural balls will also take place indoors at the Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, about a mile away from the Capitol building. The last president to be sworn-in indoors was Ronald Reagan in 1985, when cold weather also necessitated the change in venue.
