Ex-Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson and Derek Hatton charged with bribery

Former Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson and city politician Derek Hatton, along with 10 others, have been charged with bribery and misconduct related to council contracts following a Merseyside Police probe. The charges stem from an investigation into the awarding of building contracts, with Anderson expressing his intent to clear his name. The 12 individuals charged will appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on 28 March, with criminal proceedings now active and a request for no prejudicial reporting or commentary.
