Former Australian motorcycle gang member and ex-prisoner Ryan Peake has qualified for the Open at Portrush after winning the New Zealand Open, despite needing clearance to travel due to his past conviction. The 31-year-old left-hander from Perth turned his life around through golf after serving time for a serious assault, being contacted by coach Ritchie Smith while in prison. Peake’s victory at the Millbrook Resort course earned him Aus$201,600 and a spot on the Asian Tour, showcasing his transformation and dedication to his new passion for golf.
