Yvonne Mills, a Stolen Generations survivor, shared her story of being separated from her mother as a child at an Apology anniversary event. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s 2008 Apology acknowledged the trauma caused by past government policies, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extending the Stolen Generations Redress Scheme. Despite ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous children, efforts towards reconciliation and truth-telling continue, with calls for action to be taken on the Bringing Them Home recommendations.
