India's oil minister says 'we play by the rules,' as markets weigh U.S. energy sanctions

India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, stated that India will comply with international sanctions and play by the rules, including adhering to price caps on Russian oil purchases. Despite purchasing discounted Russian oil, India maintains it is acting in its national interest and emphasizes that there are no sanctions in place, pointing out that Europe continues to buy energy from Russia. India will address any issues that may arise in the future regarding sanctions and will cooperate accordingly.
