At least 773 people have been killed in Goma, DRC, in a week due to fighting with Rwanda-backed M23 rebels, who captured the city. The rebels, supported by 4,000 Rwandan troops, are the most potent armed group in the mineral-rich east, causing a significant humanitarian crisis. Goma’s capture has disrupted aid delivery and raised fears of further violence and displacement in the region.
