Fourteen members of the Australian religious group known as the Saints have been found guilty of manslaughter in the death of eight-year-old diabetic girl Elizabeth Struhs, who was denied insulin and died from diabetic ketoacidosis. The group, including Elizabeth’s parents and leader Brendan Stevens, withheld medical care in favor of relying on faith healing, leading to her suffering extreme symptoms and ultimately passing away. Justice Martin Burns ruled that while the defendants adored Elizabeth, their actions in depriving her of necessary treatment resulted in her tragic death, with all 14 defendants convicted of manslaughter in the case.
