Eva Lys, a lucky loser, has advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open after seizing the opportunity to compete in the main draw as a late replacement. She defeated Kim Birrell, Varvara Gracheva, and Jaqueline Cristian to become the first lucky loser to reach the fourth round since 1988. Despite having to change her flight plans multiple times, Lys is excited to face second seed Iga Świątek and earn at least $420,000 from her unexpected success at the tournament.
