Officials investigating whether SCE equipment ignited Hurst fire

Southern California Edison is under investigation by fire agencies to determine if their downed utility equipment caused the Hurst fire near Sylmar. The fire, which has burned nearly 800 acres, is 89% contained with evacuation orders lifted. SCE has been asked to preserve evidence for the Eaton fire, which has burned over 14,100 acres. Utilities have a history of causing wildfires and have faced fines and lawsuits, including SCE paying $550 million in fines for previous fires.
