Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin urged the incoming Trump administration not to abandon Kyiv’s fight, warning that ceasing military support now could lead to more aggression and chaos. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of maintaining defence coalitions and ensuring the security of countries, while Austin stressed the need to continue support for Ukraine to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from having his way. The Biden administration has provided military aid to Ukraine, including a new weapons package and relaxed restrictions on missile strikes, to strengthen Ukraine’s position in future negotiations to end the war.
