In 2024, a record-breaking 46,843 migrants arrived at the Spanish Canary Islands via the Atlantic migration route, surpassing the previous year’s numbers by 17%. The route is considered one of the deadliest in the world, with over 10,000 deaths reported in 2024 alone.
