Yang, also known as Chris Yang, founded consultancy firm Hampton Group International, and has been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK. UK authorities believe he is associated with the UFWD, a secretive arm of the Chinese government. Despite denying the allegations, he was banned from the UK on national security grounds. Evidence found on his devices suggested links to the UFWD and the Chinese state, leading to the decision to bar him from the country. Yang has launched a legal challenge against the ban.
