Opera House shines with spotlight on Indigenous artists

As the sun sets over Sydney, the Opera House showcases the work of Indigenous artists, including the late Bidjigal elder Esme Timbery and her children Marilyn and Steven Russell, featuring delicate shellwork and prints against the ocean backdrop. The siblings express pride and gratitude for honoring their mother’s heritage and talent, highlighting the deep spiritual connection between family, country, and culture. The illuminations also include Joseca Mokashesi Yanomami’s depiction of a healing ceremony, emphasizing the cosmology of his people and promoting cultural exchange and understanding through the Badu Gili: Healing Spirit project.
