Rehab Alkadi and her husband fled Syria in 2013 due to the civil war. They were shocked and overjoyed to learn of the end of Bashar al-Assad’s rule and the collapse of Syria’s authoritarian regime. Many Syrians, both in the U.S. and abroad, felt hopeful for the future and the possibility of returning to Syria. Islamist rebels now largely control the country, presenting new challenges for leaders in bringing the country together.

Besieged Reeves hit by even worse than expected economic growth forecast
Rachel Reeves received a boost with the Bank of England cutting interest rates to aid economic growth, benefiting businesses and mortgage holders. However, growth expectations were halved due to increased NHS spending in her Budget, leading to projections of rising inflation.
