Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, Commander-in-chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command, highlighted the unique challenges faced in the archipelago due to invisible enemies and tough conditions. Following the largest maritime seizure in India of 6,000 kg of methamphetamine, he emphasized the importance of utilizing resources like space-based surveillance, aircraft patrolling, and ship-based patrolling to ensure the safety and security of the region. Balakrishnan commended the Indian Coast Guard for their role in spotting the vessel and reiterated the Command’s preparedness to handle any untoward incidents.
