Lebanon's Shiite Muslims pay high price in war between Israel and Hezbollah

The Lebanese Shiite Muslims, particularly those in southern and northeastern Lebanon and south of Beirut, feel unfairly targeted in the Israel-Hezbollah war due to their shared religious identity with Hezbollah militants. Israel claims to only target Hezbollah members to stop rocket attacks, but Shiite civilians are increasingly affected, leading to destruction of urban areas, cultural monuments, and displacement. The conflict has spread to other parts of Lebanon, causing tensions and sparking fears of collective punishment among Shiites, who see little distinction between combatants and civilians in Israeli military actions.
