The Royal Australian College of GPs has launched a new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural and Health Training Framework, led by Indigenous experts, with a focus on improving health outcomes for Indigenous people through 12 guiding principles. The framework aims to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander values and knowledge in GP education nation-wide, with a goal of 100% participation in cultural and health education among GPs in training. RACGP President Dr. Nicole Higgins emphasized the importance of recognizing rights and sovereignty to close health inequities, highlighting the framework as a significant step forward in supporting GPs to deliver culturally safe care and improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
