In Istanbul, 47 individuals, including doctors, nurses, and an ambulance driver, are on trial for allegedly causing the deaths of 10 infants as part of a scheme to defraud Turkey’s social security system. The defendants are accused of transferring babies to private hospitals for prolonged and unnecessary treatments, resulting in neglect and malpractice that led to the deaths of at least 10 newborns. The case has sparked public outrage, with calls for greater oversight of the health care system and the revocation of licenses for nine implicated hospitals.
